At The Gold Leash™, we believe the most effective training comes from a strong relationship, calm leadership, and positive emotional reinforcement. Our goal is to help dogs think clearly, feel secure, and build lasting good habits — without relying on treat dependency, harsh tools, or fear-based techniques.

We do not use treat-based training. Instead, we reward with verbal praise, gentle touch, calm affection, and positive engagement. This helps reprogram the dog’s mindset to value connection, good decisions, and emotional stability rather than becoming dependent on food rewards.

How We Reinforce & Apply It

Positive Emotional Reinforcement (No Treats)
Instead of food rewards, we reinforce good behavior with:

  • Warm verbal praise
  • Gentle touch and calm affection
  • Eye contact, tone, and bonding
  • Earned play or freedom when appropriate

This creates internal motivation, leading to calmer, more reliable real-life behavior.

No Prong Collars, No E-Collars, No Aversive Tools
We do not use prong collars, e-collars, or aversive tools. Our focus is confidence and clarity, not fear or pressure.
If owners already use tools for specific situations, we will only address them after training to ensure safe, humane, and correct use.

Real-Life Practice Throughout the Day
Training happens in real environments, including:

  • Playgroups
  • Indoor and outdoor walks
  • Exposure to other dogs
  • Greeting people appropriately
  • New sounds, rooms, and routines

Play & Train

A Fully Customized Training + Daycare Program

Our Play & Train program blends the best of both worlds: structured daycare and personalized, goal-based dog training. Your dog will enjoy a full day of socialization, play, and enrichment plus a dedicated one-on-one training session during each visit.

This program is fully customizable based on each dog’s goals and current challenges—whether your pup struggles in playgroups, needs help with manners at home, or simply needs foundational obedience.

What Your Dog Will Learn

Training plans are tailored, but common focuses include:

  • Basic obedience (sit, stay, recall, leash walking, etc.)
  • Playgroup behavior & social skills
  • Confidence building
  • Manners and impulse control
  • Behavior issues at home (jumping, counter-surfing, crate skills, etc.)
  • Reactivity improvement
  • General structure & daily habits

Program Includes

  • 6 full day daycare sessions
  • 6 individualized training sessions during daycare
  • Customized training goals
  • Progress updates after each session
  • At-home reinforcement guidance

Optional Add-On: Post-Training Review

After the program is complete, owners can schedule a  one-on-one Post-Training Session with the trainer.

This session is perfect for:

  • Extra guidance
  • Fine-tuning any lingering behaviors
  • Learning how to maintain progress at home
  • Getting answers to any training questions

Board and Train

Perfect for Reactive Dogs, Challenging Behaviors, and Puppies Needing a Strong Start

Our Board & Train program is uniquely designed to help a wide range of dogs — from reactive or challenging cases to young puppies who need early guidance and a strong foundation.

For Reactive or Challenging Dogs

Some dogs struggle with reactivity toward humans, other dogs, or new situations. These tendencies often stem from insecurity, fear, or confusion. Our trainers specialize in working with even the most stubborn or toughest cases, starting with a calm, trusting relationship that helps your dog feel safe and understood.

Once trust is established, we use structured desensitization protocols, controlled exposure, and confidence-building exercises to help your dog replace reactive habits with calm, thoughtful responses. Our goal is not just to reduce reactivity — but to help your dog feel genuinely more secure, confident, and capable.

For Puppies and Young Dogs

This program is also ideal for puppies who need the right start in life. Early structure helps puppies learn how to:

  • Interact appropriately with children
  • Behave calmly around other household pets

  • How to use the tools and techniques your dog has learned
  • How to reinforce structure, routine, and good behavior long-term

This ensures you feel equipped, confident, and supported long after the program ends.

Basic Obedience

Our Basic Obedience Training packages include private, in person lessons designed to teach your dog the foundational commands every well behaved pup should know. These include Come, Sit, Down, Heel, and Stay, all performed on leash.

This program is ideal for puppies, new dogs, or dogs that need added structure and clearer communication. Lesson quantity is based on the package you purchase, and our experienced trainers work one on one with you and your dog to build consistency, confidence, and lasting results.

Choose the Basic Obedience package that aligns with your goals. These private, in person lessons focus on building foundational skills, improving communication, and creating consistency, with progress guided by the package you purchase and your dog’s individual pace.
